Taking the Plunge: A 21st Century Neptune-in-Aries Story

The plane plummeted.

One moment, Sam was mindlessly scrolling Instagram. The next, he was caught in a violent free fall from 35,000 feet. His stomach lurched as the plane jolted and made a hollow, mechanical death rattle. Sam was suddenly faced with a truth no amount of Aries bravado could outrun.

The left engine had failed and the right was sputtering. The captain’s voice, tense but trained, crackled through the intercom: “Brace for impact.” Oxygen masks dangled uselessly in a cacophony of screams, prayers and tearful goodbyes.

But Sam was frozen in an eerie kind of clarity. He saw his life stretched out before him—not as a sequence of victories and failures, but as a single brushstroke in the great cosmic painting. He had fought so hard, always charging forward, but now this battle was clearly about the art of surrender. He allowed himself to give in to it.

Suddenly—a miracle. A sputter, a surge, and the right engine gasped back to life. The pilot wrenched the plane into a glide. The crash landing was brutal but survivable.

Stepping onto the tarmac, shaking, Sam felt something crack wide open inside himself. He had spent his whole life finding battlefields to prove his strength in a steady stream of self-created trauma and drama.

But in the void of the free fall, Sam caught hold of a truth as deep as the Earth’s oceans. It happened when Neptune whispered to him in that howling darkness, “You are not in control, and you never were. Yield to the unknown, and you’ll discover your truest strength.”

And for the first time in his life, Sam didn’t fight. He simply breathed.

Practical Prep for Neptune’s Aries Era (March 30, 2025-March 23, 2039)

Have you ever had an intense experience like Sam’s, your heart exploding in survival mode as you thought, “This is it, this is how it all ends”? But then when you came out on the other side of it, you felt an expanded, even euphoric sense of new awareness? And where it now made all the sense in the world to proudly wear that Spiritual Gangster t-shirt your L.A. friend gave you?

Maybe you haven’t felt something like this before. But in the next 14 years, you’ll likely get your turn in some form or fashion. That’s because on March 30, 2025, Neptune enters its 21st Century Aries Era—delivering a new kind of felt experience for every Earthling with a beating heart.

Neptune didn’t get an Aries Era in the 20th Century, because it was 150 years ago when the planet of the Mystic last resided in the territory of the Warrior. From April 14, 1861 to April 7, 1875, these two energies blended and manifested in the physical lives of our ancestors. The American Civil War, for instance, began right on time (so to speak), on April 12, 1861, infusing the world’s collective imagination with intertwining notions of violence and idealism for many years to come.

While we can not predict the details, what we do know for sure is that all of us, like those ancestors of ours, are going to have our spiritual courage tested and developed from now until 2039. When exactly, you ask? Each time that Arian Neptune, with its new-found fierceness, makes contact (by some type of aspect) with a planet in our birth charts, firing up that part of our lives. That means it’s different times for different people, and the individual’s natal chart must be reviewed to pinpoint their exact windows.

For example, if you were born with your Moon at 0 degrees Aries, Neptune is conjunct with your Moon at the start of this cycle. When planets conjoin — i.e., come into close proximity with one another, like a hug — they release the integrated energy patterns of the planets and signs involved into the person’s life as opportunities for growth and expansion. This is also true for the other aspect types, like oppositions (180 degrees between the two planets) and squares (90 degrees).

In other words, during these heightened activation periods created by the position of the moving planet, you will, through the universal law of attraction, manifest people, events and circumstances of an Arian-Neptune nature into your storyline to contribute to the development of your capacity for the kind of spiritual courage the world needs right now. Exhilarating stuff!

We can specialize your storyline even further. The predominant areas of life where you’ll experience the adrenaline of Aries are:

(1) in the House(s) where Aries resides in your natal chart, and

(2) the House of each of your natal planets that makes contact with Neptune in Aries by aspect.

Take your friend who has Aries in the 3rd House (of communication) of her natal chart. We wouldn’t be surprised to witness the sweaty fear triggers materializing when she’s called upon to boldly speak up about something. Neptune is here to bring forth situations that will give her opportunities to find her voice in those moments. While she is feeling terrified in the thick of it, on the other side waiting for her is the kind empowerment that only comes through the direct felt experience of a thing.

To find your relevant Houses for this 14-Year Era of Neptune in Aries:

1. Go to the Daily section of your Lila app.

2. Scroll down the list of planets to Neptune.

3. Next to Neptune, you’ll see your House number listed and an explanation of what it means to have Neptune slowly and steadily activating this facet of your life, whether it’s your career (10th House), your home life (4th House), or one of the other 10 key areas.

Remember: because of our free will environment, we Earthlings can and do choose our own adventures while we’re here in these bodies. You have a say in how this all unfolds, and there are always different ways to play it, ranging from high to low expressions. Opting not to lead with your desires (i.e., passively leaving your storyline entirely up to gods) is also a choice. We wouldn’t recommend it, unless unwanted outcomes that create feelings of being powerless, or identifying as a victim, is the preference.

For example, in the case of Sam, there are myriad alternate Neptune-in-Aries storylines where he’s more aware of these invisible energies moving through and around him—so he gets out ahead of them. It’s like when we pack a raincoat on a trip when we’ve checked the weather beforehand, and we know it’s going to storm while we’re there. Likewise, Sam can intentionally direct this energy into activities that get his heart pounding in a different context, like through surfing or bungy jumping, if he’s a particularly physical and active person. If he’s an elder, maybe he buys a Jeep Wrangler and goes off-roading into the desert to meditate out in the elements.

Deliberately using and aiming the energy in a similar way is more satisfying and empowering for Sam in these different versions of his story. It also has the potential to deactivate (or dissipate) his unconscious impulse to book a ticket on the troubled plane in the Taking the Plunge version.

Sam can reach that next level of spiritual courage for himself by engaging in any number of Arian-Neptune experiences. It’s up to him which page of his personal adventure book he’s going to jump to next, and our advice for Sam is to choose the experiences that feel the most fun and uplifting to him.

There are competitive life advantages to be had in developing a simple game plan for how you intend to proactively engage and direct this energy for your personal benefit, based on what feels good and right to you in the context of your unique set of life circumstances. To get started, consider using the Lila app’s suggestions as a launching-off pad, if they resonate with you, and riff off of them.

A parting wish for this season: may we all summon the strength to compassionately support each other during this next Neptune in Aries chapter in the Book of Earth. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, but it offers us spiritual wisdom so profound it can (and should!) take our breath away if we’re aware enough to catch it.

Happy Aries Season,
